Alan(6) Tristan(8)

Thought I should post a pic of my two "juvenile" boys. They've been in school a week and they're doing so good. Im so *sniff* proud.

Movietalk

One thing that's fabulous about school is that it knocks your kids out by 8.30 pm.
Which means a bit of time in the 24 hour period for just...moi!
Last night I watched two films.
The first was "Head in the Clouds".
Frankly,I'm too lazy to get into what its all about. I thought Stuart Townshed and Charlize Theron had alot of chemistry (they're a couple in reality) and were rather sexy onscreen together which is basically the only reason to watch it.
Starts out well but kinda messes up towards the end.

Sideways on the other hand, was fantastic. I have been wanting to see it all year but hadnt gotten around to it.
Miles Raymond (Giamatti), a divorced middle school teacher and failed novelist, and his altar-bound friend Jack (Church) take a wine-tasting trip in California, pondering questions about their directions in life.
I loved the Miles Raymond character, possibly because I related to the manic depressiveness and failed novelist parts. Heh heh.
The only bad part of the experience was not having any delicious wine to drink , so definetly have some wine on hand if you watch this, or you'll spend the entire movie craving for some.

Yum

I just had the perfect Indian takeaway meal. It made my day.
There's nothing more dissapointing than going out to eat or ordering food from home and it tasting like shit.
We ordered lasagna once and it tasted like boiled liver and "slopwash". I should have known better, when I talked to the guy to order it....
Him: Something or other restaurant. How may I help u?
Me: Yeah hi, I'd like to order the large lasagna.
Him: I dont think we have any left.
Me: Well it's ok........
Him: Hey wait actually I think we can scramble something together for ya ok?
Me: Oh ok thanks.

Yeeeeah not a good sign, but by the time it dawned on me the dogfood had merrily made its way to our house.

Anyway all that to say, that I had great Indian food and it made me blissfully happy :)

Evolving

Adolescence:

I noticed a bunch of young teenage girls at a store I was in the other day. They were loud ("Oh my gawd, look at this shirt, its like, awesome"), they were giggling like hyenas (everytime a guy passed by) and ofcourse they all looked identical.
In short, they had all the qualities that make teen girls so uh ....endearing.
Surely I couldnt have been so annoying in my teenage years?
* I only wore black till 16 to show my loyalty to grundge and rock. But at the time so did everybody else.
* I was naturally always right! No ifs and buts about it.
* I'd stare at boys and then quickly look away if they looked back.
* I was an emotional wreck. My world as I knew it fell apart at least once a week.
Thank (insert entity you believe in here) we learn to chill out.

Friendship:
Some old friends came to visit. Hadnt seen them in about 4 years.
It slowly became apparent that the only thing we still had in common was our old friendship.
Our interests, our tastes in the arts, our definition of having a good time, our beliefs, they had all changed. We automatically switch from friends to acquaintances.
It seems only a handful of people become best friends that "get" you for life.
Life wouldnt be the same without them.

Children:
I have two lovable lunatic sons. They are now 8 and 6. I used to look forward to them growing older. Thats not quite the case anymore. They are growing too fast, too soon, dammit!!

Future:
They say life gets a whole lot more fun for women once you are over 30.
I always thot that was bullshit, but now Im not so sure.
My sons will be 17 and 15 when I turn 35. Hmmm, I dont feel so bad about the boys getting older so fast anymore.
I'll be starting a completely different phase of my life, a more independant one.
Terrifying yet exciting!

Insane pathetic women

I dont usually listen to random conversations while in public, but this one was taking place right beside me at a bar, and it was too amusing to ignore.
It went something like this.

Girl#1 Oh wow, check out that guy over there!
Girl #2 Let me see, oh yeah I see him around alot, he's absolutely gorgeous.
Girl #1 Really, you've seen him before? And you havnt chatted him up?
Girl #2 Well, I have a hard time walking up to guys and flirting with them.
Girl#1 You really should with this guy, or I will!
Girl#2 Oh no, its ok I dont really feel like it.
Girl#1 Ok sweetie but I really do feel like it, you dont mind do you?
Girl#2 No, why would I mind? I hear he doesnt like forward girls tho.
Girl#1 We'll find out soon enough.

Girl#1 walks up to hottie, introduces herself, he gets her a drink, she flirts, they dance, after 20 mins walks back to Girl #2.

Girl#1 Wow he's soooo hott, we're gonna meet later, isnt that fuckin great?
Girl #2 Actually it isnt fuckin great at all, you knew I like him but you dont care do you?
Girl #1 Hey, chill out, you said it was ok.
Girl #2 Its not ok!
Girl #1 You shouldve said that before, just because you cant get any, doesnt mean you have to take it out on me!
Girl #2 What? The only reason you get any is because your boobs are always hanging out of you shirt, like a whore.
Girl#1 Well at least Im not a crazy bitch like you!
Girl#2 Ho!
Girl #1 Bitch!
